iHealthtech joins global effort to fight COVID-19 virus

  • February 19, 2020

iHealthtech researchers have joined the global effort to fight the COVID-19 virus by working on a new rapid detection kit that can produce results in only around 30 minutes.

A team led by Asst Prof Shao Huilin is customising their enVision test platform to detect the COVID-19 virus. This technology is not only faster but can also be done at the point-of-care, for example in community clinics or hospital wards, and thus has the potential to avoid overloading limited resources in hospital testing laboratories.

Other teams in NUS are also joining the effort, for example a team from Duke-NUS Medical School is cooperating with Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to conduct COVID-19 vaccine trials.
