New tests available in Singapore to help assess adults for ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder that affects approximately five per cent of the world’s population. In Singapore, around 4.9 per cent of primary school pupils are diagnosed with ADHD. As awareness of mental disorders increases, there has been a rise in the number of adults being diagnosed with ADHD. However, accurately diagnosing these individuals remains challenging due to the lack of objective and scientific methods available.

In addressing this diagnostic challenge, Professor Roger Ho and his team at iHealthtech are the first research group to utilize infrared brain scans as a scientific method to measure ADHD symptoms and other neurodevelopmental disorders such as depression, borderline personality disorder, and dementia.

By employing infrared brain scans, he and his team can obtain objective measurements of brain activity and identify specific patterns associated with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders. This scientific approach provides a more accurate and reliable assessment, leading to improved diagnosis and subsequent treatment strategies for patients.
