What if you could actually see touch? Our latest innovation, eLuminator, is an electronic skin that senses pressure and turns it directly into a visible light pattern in real time, allowing the shape and distribution of contact to be seen without the need for a separate processing or display system. We believe this approach could open up interesting possibilities for next-generation wearable and biomedical technologies, including pressure monitoring for diabetic foot care, real-time force feedback during medical procedures, and tactile sensing for robotics and prosthetics.

The research was led by Prof Lim Chwee Teck and his team at NUS.
