Rapid extraction of disease biomarkers
- May 11, 2018
A research team at the National University of Singapore led by BIGHEART Acting Director Prof. Lim Chwee Teck created a new platform that can extract tiny biomarkers of disease, called extracellular vesicles, which are related to diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and blood diseases, from patient blood samples.
This microfluidic chip-based centrifugal separation and extraction technology called µCENSE is about one hundred times faster than standard high-speed ultracentrifugation methods, and is also simpler and more convenient to use. (https://aip.scitation.org/doi/full/10.1063/1.5019983)
