A flexible, light-emitting fibre that can self-heal? That sounds almost like an octopus that glows and regenerates!

This futuristic material, called SHINE, was developed by iHealthtech PI A/Prof Benjamin C.K. Tee and his team. It’s an innovation that could one day outsmart nature’s own designs in diverse applications and environments.

Congratulations to the team on their innovation being recognised with the IES Sustainability Award 2025 by the The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES)
