Chief Defence Scientist Mr Tan Peng Yam visits iHealthtech at the new Engineering in Medicine Building

Chief Defence Scientist Mr Tan Peng Yam from the Ministry of Defence of Singapore visited the recent expansion of iHealthtech at the new Engineering in Medicine Building E7. He was accompanied by the National University of Singapore Deputy President (Research & Technology) Prof Chen Tsuhan, Office of the Senior Deputy President and Provost Senior Director (Strategic Initiatives & Alliances) Mr George Loh and iHealthtech Director Prof Lim Chwee Teck during the visit.
In recent years, iHealthtech has focused on translating health and medical technology from the lab to the market. The institute has developed cutting edge technologies that combine advanced engineering and computing, such as AI, wireless technology, smart materials, nanotechnology, through working with experts from clinical sciences to tackle health and disease challenges such as cancer, diabetes, ageing and mental health. iHealthtech also stood with the nation at the frontline of fighting Covid-19 during the pandemic period by engineering techniques that can diagnose and monitor the spread of the virus efficiently, easily and at a much lower cost. The institute looks forward to working closer with public agencies in Singapore to spearhead programmes that will benefit society.
