The Institute for Health Innovation and Technology (iHealthtech) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) was founded in 2017 to advance health through technological innovation. Focused on tackling clinical challenges, iHealthtech develops innovative health technologies, bridging the gap from the laboratory to the clinic and market. This process aims to ultimately benefit patients and society. To realise this mission, iHealthtech emphasises close interdisciplinary collaboration among its Principal Investigators, collaborators from engineering, medicine, and science, as well as industrial partners and entrepreneurs.
iHealthtech’s research spans Precision Diagnostics, Smart Sensors & Artificial Intelligence, and Mental Health & Ageing. The institute aims to enhance disease diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment while promoting longevity and overall health. Facilitating the translation of innovative technologies, iHealthtech has a dedicated translational arm, the Healthtech Translation Hub (HATCH), guiding researchers in bringing their health technologies to fruition.
Since its establishment, iHealthtech has achieved significant milestones. It has collectively published over six hundred papers in high-impact scientific journals, underscoring the quality and impact of its research. Additionally, iHealthtech has filed over a hundred invention disclosures and holds 66 patents, exemplifying its commitment to pioneering technologies. Furthermore, its researchers have co-founded six startup companies, attracting over 41 million Singapore dollars in investment and generating more than 60 job opportunities. This not only contributes to the local economy but also provides employment opportunities in health technology.
